World energy leaders are set to visit the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) as part of a series of events taking place during the world energy cities conference in Aberdeen next week.
Organised by the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG), members of the organisation are being encouraged to sign up for the exclusive ferry tour which takes place on Thursday, September 5. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with several international delegations of mayors and industry leaders.
Aberdeen was selected to host the prestigious World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) AGM to coincide with SPE Offshore Europe 2019.
The event attracts mayors and their delegations, which include senior players in key global oil and gas markets, to attend a four-day programme of events and business networking in the city.
The WECP connects 19 of the world’s leading energy capitals. WECP member cities actively seek and develop opportunities to learn, exchange and engage in activities that strengthen multilateral ties.
Jean Morrison, chair of AREG: “This is a rare opportunity to meet influential people from around the world who can benefit your business. These member cities actively seek and develop opportunities to learn, exchange, and engage in activities which strengthen multilateral ties. It is a great opportunity for our members.”
The Lord Provost of Aberdeen Barney Crockett, Vice-President of WECP, said: “Renewable energy is no longer seen as an alternative or future energy. It has become a mainstream energy source and Aberdeen’s oil and gas, and energy supply chain are playing a key role in energy transition towards a lower carbon energy system.
“I am pleased that AREG is a key sponsor of the WECP AGM and able to offer representatives from the partnership cities the chance to visit the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) just off the Aberdeen coast.
“It will give delegates the opportunity to learn from the industry experts, exchange experiences and offer the potential to develop new business opportunities around energy and renewables.”
The ferry visit has been sponsored by international energy consultancy Xodus Group.
