ParkPower is running its second conference to share the results of the 8 month Green Heat in Greenspaces (GHiGs) project.

The event is aimed at officers, managers and elected representatives across Scotland working in national and local government, NHS, housing associations, higher education, utilities and others involved in managing land assets. The content should be of interest to staff working in areas of energy, sustainability, property and asset management, greenspace management, planning and regeneration, housing, transport and community empowerment. It will have direct relevance to those involved in energy masterplanning, Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategies (LHEES) and Climate Action Plans.

The conference will share the results of the Green Heat in Greenspaces (GHiGs) project, a collaboration between greenspace scotland and Ramboll that involved partnering with more than half of Scotland’s local authorities together with many other public bodies. Its aim was to understand the potential of urban green and blue spaces across Scotland to support low carbon heat services.

It will be reporting on the potential that Scotland’s rivers and greenspaces offer for generating low carbon heat to meet the needs of our urban settlements where 90% of Scotland’s population resides. It will also highlight the range of reports, data and digital tools that the project has made available.

The conference will position this work in the context of recent policy developments on heat in buildings by the Scottish Government. We also have speakers from local government involved in the LHEES Knowledge Sharing Group together with suppliers of market leading heat solutions in ground source heat, water source heat and heat networks to share their experiences of project delivery.
