The SHFCA2022 Hydrogen Scotland programme brings together SHFCA members and guests with invited expert speakers who will highlight the partnership opportunities and steps needed to build the hydrogen economy across Scotland.

The recently refurbished McEwan Hall venue has capacity for over 400 delegates.

SHFCA looks forward to setting the direction and pace with the first of a series of SHFCA Hydrogen Scotland themed annual conferences to support the growing hydrogen economy across Scotland. The SHFCA2022 conference will also include member displays and exhibition stands, presentation of the 2022 Stewart Dow Award, and a poster competition as part of the extensive networking opportunities throughout the conference.

The Hydrogen Scotland conference themes include partnerships for growth, sharing lessons learned across the hydrogen sector, and building up local hydrogen demand alongside the wider hydrogen export opportunities.

Speakers will highlight opportunities with hydrogen and fuel cells as an enabler for energy system transition, and showcase exemplar projects and related activities that are building core skills and expertise.

The SHFCA2022 Hydrogen Scotland conference will also address thornier issues. This will include the ‘chicken and egg’ challenge of what comes first – hydrogen supply or hydrogen demand? Partnership activities to build the early demand for hydrogen across Scotland will be essential to create the market pull for a hydrogen economy, and this demand will underpin the development of local hydrogen production together the associated infrastructure for hydrogen vehicle refuelling, and the hydrogen networks for supply of residential and industry heat.
