MEMBER NEWS: Coretrax makes trio of senior appointments to support growth in Eastern Hemisphere

Coretrax, a global leader in well integrity and production optimisation, has strengthened its Eastern Hemisphere leadership team with a trio of appointments to support business strategic growth in the region.

Neil Killoh joins Coretrax in the role of country manager for Australia, New Zealand and Papa New Guinea, which marks the company’s first appointment in the region. Malek Abed will take on the position of country manager for Qatar and David Smith has been appointed as Eastern Hemisphere sales manager.

Originally from Aberdeen, UK, Neil brings more than 30 years’ industry experience with a specific focus on wellbore intervention and downhole drilling tools. He has spent the past 15 years in Perth, Australia where he held senior roles including general manager at Tasman Oil Tools and more recently, district manager for Australia, New Zealand and Papa New Guinea at IOT Energy Services.

In his new role, Neil will remain based in Perth, and lead daily operations with particular emphasis on strengthening relationships with clients and building on the company’s existing foundations within the region.

Malek Abed joins Coretrax from Baker Hughes where he spent the last four years in project management roles. Prior to this, he worked at SLB for more than 20 years in a range of technical and operations positions. Located at the company’s well-established base in Doha, Qatar, Malek will be responsible for driving business performance, while working closely with local agents to support further growth.

Based in Dubai, David Smith brings over 10 years’ experience in technical sales, business development and operations management. He was most recently business development and sales manager at Motive Offshore. As Eastern Hemisphere sales manager, David is responsible for defining, owning, and directing the overall sales strategy for the Eastern Hemisphere with a key focus on driving new business across all four of Coretrax’s product lines.

John Fraser, CEO of Coretrax said: “As we continue with our ambitious growth strategy, these latest appointments significantly strengthen our regional teams. We recognised the need to have a dedicated person in Australia to drive our operations across Asia Pacific and Neil’s knowledge of the local market will be highly valuable to the business as we expand our footprint in the region.

“The addition of Malek and David’s leadership will also be essential in executing existing projects as well as building on our healthy pipeline of new contracts. With demand for our well lifecycle technology continuing to escalate, this latest round of appointment highlights our commitment to continued expansion, and their expertise and experience will be extremely valuable to the business moving forward.”

In the last 12 months, Coretrax has boosted its headcount by 20%, rising to 300 people, as demand for its solutions which support customers’ wells at all stages of the lifecycle continues to increase. The company has been active in the Middle East for more than a decade and has operational bases in the United Arab Emirate, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

AREG is the original energy transition organisation, working on behalf of members to empower the energy supply chain and champion its expertise. Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to find out more about membership.

AREG has played an important role in the growth of Scotland’s renewable energy sector, engaging the supply chain and developing the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. However, we are only at the very beginning of the transition that AREG was established to both lead and support so there are still opportunities for companies to get into the constantly evolving renewables supply chain. We look forward to continuing our work together as renewables builds on its place as Scotland’s main source of power, and as we seek to deliver real change in the crucial areas of heat and transport.

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce has worked closely with AREG since its formation. The recent progress in the developments of offshore wind projects by Equinor and Vattenfall are as a result of the work of the group over many years. The north-east is known as the oil and gas capital of Europe. At the Chamber, we believe the region must evolve its position to being recognised as the energy capital. Whilst hydrocarbons will continue to be essential in driving our economy for years to come, the generation of renewable resources will play an increasingly important role in providing cost-effective power, innovative development and economic growth.

The enthusiasm and dedication of the early group that would become AREG was fundamental in us choosing to launch All-Energy in Aberdeen. The first tiny show was held in 2001, and AREG’s Chairman at the time, Jeremy Cresswell, played such an active role that I often describe him in terms such as All-Energy’s ‘midwife’. All-Energy is now the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference in terms of number of attendees, space booked, and number of exhibiting companies. As AREG became firmly established, their presence and support for the event grew spectacularly over the years. We thank them most sincerely for their invaluable input.

Vattenfall has forged a strong working relationship with AREG through the development of the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. AREG has worked tirelessly on behalf of the North East and it can take enormous credit for the growth of sustainable energy in the region and the path it has cleared for the region to capture further investment.

Aberdeen City and Shire is emerging as a key location for renewables by successfully transferring its world-class oil and gas expertise into the sector and AREG has done much to advance this through a broad range of initiatives. It has acted as a catalyst in driving further investment in the local economy by engaging with companies, Government, public bodies and existing projects and we have been pleased to support their efforts. Scottish Enterprise will continue to engage with AREG as we increase Scotland’s use of renewable energy.
