MEMBER NEWS: Offshore wind growth business Rovco recruiting for 100+ specialist roles
  • The company, valued at nearly $200m, is recruiting for over 100 new roles across its Aberdeen and Edinburgh offices to support growing operations in high-tech offshore wind solutions.
  • Rovco’s technology is boosting efficiency across the development, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of offshore wind farms.

Rovco, a leading provider of tech-powered offshore wind solutions, will recruit over 100 new roles across its Aberdeen and Edinburgh offices by the end of 2025. The influx of wind industry talent will support Rovco’s explosive growth and the deployment of its high-tech AI and autonomy solutions into offshore wind projects.

Most of the roles will be in Rovco’s innovative hydrographic division, which spans wind farm planning surveys, seabed mapping, and UXO (unexploded ordnance) surveys. Rovco will be recruiting across several areas, including survey, engineering, data processing, and project management. Many of the skills required are directly transferrable from the offshore oil and gas industry. Most roles will be onshore and based in Aberdeen, at the mid-senior level positions, with openings also available at the company’s Edinburgh office.

Rovco’s solutions help to lower the operational costs of offshore wind farms. It automates and accelerates processes across all lifecycle stages, which has many benefits for the offshore wind sector: cutting inspection days by up to 50 per cent, replacing dangerous work, shifting sea-based jobs onshore, and improving the productivity of offshore workers.

Rovco is dedicated to supporting the energy transition, through its focus on serving the offshore wind sector – the only services provided to oil and gas operations are in safely decommissioning assets. The company has grown rapidly over the past few years, with operations across the North Sea, Europe, Japan, Canada, and the US, working with some of the world’s biggest offshore wind operators. Its current valuation sits at nearly £200m.

Brian Allen, CEO of Rovco, said: “Technology will be vital in improving the economics of offshore wind and accelerating the energy transition. Places like Aberdeen that have a rich heritage in offshore oil and gas are well placed to benefit from this transition. We’re looking for people who are passionate about technology for good and can help us on our mission to change the economics of offshore wind.”

This recruitment drive is part of Rovco’s broader plans for global expansion. The company has already hired nearly 30 new roles in the first few months of this year across its Bristol and Aberdeen offices. By the end of 2025, it aims to have hired for around 200 new positions globally, including 25 in the US to support recent agreements with the likes of industry giant Orsted, and 10 in Asia. Several new offices will also be opening across European and Asian markets.

James Reynolds, Head of Talent Acquisition at Rovco, said: “We’re a leading player in high-tech offshore wind solutions, developing autonomous inspection for challenging environments and deploying innovations in crucial areas like AI. We’ve seen huge growth across our operations over the past couple of years, so we’re excited to bring in new talent to support and continue our growth.”

Rovco is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. For more information about Rovco’s job opportunities, please visit the company’s careers page.

AREG is the original energy transition organisation, working on behalf of members to empower the energy supply chain and champion its expertise. Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to find out more about membership.

AREG has played an important role in the growth of Scotland’s renewable energy sector, engaging the supply chain and developing the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. However, we are only at the very beginning of the transition that AREG was established to both lead and support so there are still opportunities for companies to get into the constantly evolving renewables supply chain. We look forward to continuing our work together as renewables builds on its place as Scotland’s main source of power, and as we seek to deliver real change in the crucial areas of heat and transport.

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce has worked closely with AREG since its formation. The recent progress in the developments of offshore wind projects by Equinor and Vattenfall are as a result of the work of the group over many years. The north-east is known as the oil and gas capital of Europe. At the Chamber, we believe the region must evolve its position to being recognised as the energy capital. Whilst hydrocarbons will continue to be essential in driving our economy for years to come, the generation of renewable resources will play an increasingly important role in providing cost-effective power, innovative development and economic growth.

The enthusiasm and dedication of the early group that would become AREG was fundamental in us choosing to launch All-Energy in Aberdeen. The first tiny show was held in 2001, and AREG’s Chairman at the time, Jeremy Cresswell, played such an active role that I often describe him in terms such as All-Energy’s ‘midwife’. All-Energy is now the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference in terms of number of attendees, space booked, and number of exhibiting companies. As AREG became firmly established, their presence and support for the event grew spectacularly over the years. We thank them most sincerely for their invaluable input.

Vattenfall has forged a strong working relationship with AREG through the development of the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. AREG has worked tirelessly on behalf of the North East and it can take enormous credit for the growth of sustainable energy in the region and the path it has cleared for the region to capture further investment.

Aberdeen City and Shire is emerging as a key location for renewables by successfully transferring its world-class oil and gas expertise into the sector and AREG has done much to advance this through a broad range of initiatives. It has acted as a catalyst in driving further investment in the local economy by engaging with companies, Government, public bodies and existing projects and we have been pleased to support their efforts. Scottish Enterprise will continue to engage with AREG as we increase Scotland’s use of renewable energy.
