Member News: Double joy for Aberdein Considine at Herald Law Awards, including Solicitor of the Year

Flourishing law firm Aberdein Considine scooped two coveted awards at the Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2025.

Several hundred of Scotland’s leading lawyers gathered for this year’s ceremony, which took place at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu on Friday 7 November.

Aberdein Considine, headquartered in Aberdeen and with 21 offices and more than 450 staff across Scotland and northern England, took home the award for Debt Recovery Team of the Year, which it also won in 2024.

And Private Client Partner Aileen Entwistle, based in the firm’s Glasgow office, was named Solicitor of the Year.

This double legal awards success comes at the culmination of a milestone year for the firm.

In June, Aberdein Considine converted to a Limited Liability Partnership from a traditional partnership model and unveiled a refreshed brand identity. This followed closely on from the firm’s most successful financial year on record, which saw Aberdein Considine turn over more than £37 million in 2024/5, with profits up by 41%.

Specialising in private client law for more than 20 years, Aileen Entwistle joined Aberdein Considine as a partner in the Glasgow office in 2019.

Colleague Paul Jennings, Partner and Head of Commercial Real Estate, described her as “a true team player and a wonderful colleague, with a commitment to client service and collegiality that sets standards others naturally want to follow”.

Meanwhile, a grateful client praised her as “an absolute star”, adding that “Aileen is not only an expert in her field, but at the same time is very approachable and down-to-earth, quick to put her clients at ease and reassure them that she not only understands the issues but knows just how to deal with them”. 

On being named Solicitor of the Year 2025, Aileen Entwistle said:

“It’s a huge honour to have been awarded Solicitor of the Year 2025. It means a great deal to be recognised for my commitment to the legal profession and the work I do for my clients in helping them at all stages of their lives, guiding them in their estate planning and navigating often challenging legal and tax situations. My thanks also to my colleagues at Aberdein Considine LLP for providing me with a such a supportive working environment.”

The Herald Law Award for Debt Recovery Team of the Year was open to “firms, teams or organisations that focus on debt recovery, bank recovery, insolvency and corporate restrictions work”.

Aberdein Considine’s award entry highlighted both its specialist banking and financial litigation team, known as the Lender Services Practice Group, and the firm’s Dispute Resolution: Commercial Debt Recovery team, which offers both volume and bespoke secured and unsecured debt recovery services to clients across a range of business sectors, primarily to the Scottish SME market.
