Industry News: Five UK firms to share GBP 1.2m in offshore wind manufacturing support
The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has awarded a total of GBP 1.2 million (USD 1.6m/EUR 1.4m) to five UK companies under the second round of its Manufacturing Facility Support Programme (MFSP).

The programme supports early-stage pre-investment activities to develop new offshore wind manufacturing facilities or expand existing ones.

“MFSP provides a vital bridge between early development work and major capital investment, enabling businesses to turn strong concepts into investable, deliverable facilities,” said Lynne McIntosh-Grieve, Head of Programme Delivery at OWGP.

The five companies are King Site Services (SW) Limited, Mainstay Marine Solutions, Marine Power Systems, Peterhead Energy Service Base Limited and PPI Engineering Ltd. King Site, for instance, aims to develop a manufacturing facility in Port Talbot, South Wales, to produce secondary steel and equipment for the floating wind market, while Marine Power Systems plans early development work for a fabrication facility for the installation of its offshore wind platform for deep water projects.

OWGP was set up under the 2019 Sector Deal by the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC). Funding for its activities comes from OWIC’s private members.
