Community groups across Peterhead and the surrounding area are being encouraged to apply for the second round of funding from the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) Peterhead Local Fund, with just over £400,000 available to support local projects.
Delivered as part of the nationally significant EGL2 subsea clean energy project, the fund has already distributed more than £420,000 to local groups and organisations, supporting a wide range of initiatives making a tangible difference in the Blue Toon and neighbouring communities.
Applications for the latest round of funding are now open, with a closing date of Wednesday 22 July.
It forms part of a wider five-year investment, with the fund set to provide a total of £2,159,444 to communities in and around Peterhead. It supports projects across several priority areas, and forms part of the project’s ongoing commitment to delivering a positive legacy in the north-east of Scotland.
To ensure funding decisions remain firmly rooted in local priorities, a panel of local people has been established to assess applications. This approach helps ensure investment reflects local needs and aspirations.

“Delivering a lasting, positive legacy in the north-east of Scotland is a core part of EGL2, and this fund is just one of ways we are helping communities to share in the benefits of this nationally important clean energy project.”
Among the recipients to benefit from the first round of funding was Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust, which received £23,340 to support water sports activities for children and young people in Peterhead, promoting personal development and mental wellbeing.

Angie Fraser from Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust said: “This funding will allow us to provide opportunities for children, young people and people with disabilities who are facing, or have faced, difficult times in their lives. It will make a real difference to their happiness and confidence and help them develop a wide range of new skills.
