Aberdeen — Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Philip Imperiale, Graham Cowperthwaite, and Isla Robb. Their appointments are a reiteration of AREG’s commitment to strong governance, strategic leadership, and the advancement of the North-east’s energy transition.
These appointments come at an opportune time, as AREG continues to expand the scope of its impact through new or energized initiatives and deepen its focus on member value and industry collaboration.
Profiles of New Board Directors
Philip Imperiale, AREG Director
Philip brings global energy sector experience, most recently serving as Shell’s methodology lead for integrated upstream production optimisation. He contributes strategic insight and technical expertise to advance the region’s energy transition.
A strong advocate for the part hydrogen plays in the balanced “All-Energy” economy, Philip champions innovation, collaboration, skills development, and business opportunity across the North-East. His focus on integrated systems and practical analysis reflects a commitment to unlocking long-term value for communities and industry alike.
Graham Cowperthwaite, AREG Director
Graham has over 50 years of energy sector experience both in the UK and internationally, working in exploration and development, engineering, fabrication and in the last twelve years the change to renewable energy sources.
An analytical, driven and professional leader with experience in corporate governance, regulatory bodies, industry groups and labour organisations. he sees the key need to support the supply chain through the “energy transition” bringing the existing sector experience, skills and competence to the fore giving opportunity to suppliers and the workforce.
Graham Cowperthwaite is the COO at Global Energy Service Holding, a company providing a range of services to the overall energy related industries.
Isla Robb, AREG Director
Isla Robb is a respected leader in the renewable energy sector and works with ETZ Ltd as Director of Offshore Renewables, where she drives strategic initiatives to accelerate the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy. With a strong focus on policy development, workforce planning, and industry collaboration, Isla works closely with stakeholders to ensure low carbon energy delivers sustainable growth and long-term benefits for communities and businesses.
Passionate about developing talent pipelines for the sector, Isla has championed initiatives such as the National Energy Skills Accelerator (NESA) and has played a key role in advancing workforce development strategies aligned with offshore wind expansion. Through her work, Isla continues to advocate for collaboration, innovation, and skills investment as critical enablers of a successful energy transition.
