Hydrogen as a solution for decarbonising a number of sectors of the global economy is no longer just a hypothesis. The IEA predicts that global hydrogen demand will expand from less than 90 Mt in 2020 to more than 200 Mt in 2030 and that by 2030, over half of low-carbon hydrogen production will come from electrolysis (so called ‘green hydrogen’).
So what does this focus on green hydrogen by 2030 mean for the renewables industry?
On 23 June from 09:00-10:15, BDO and DNV will be co-hosting an event featuring speakers from Greencoat Capital, SGN, Aurora Energy and Ashurst, who will discuss the opportunities and implications of future green hydrogen demand for renewables asset owners, developers and investors, with a focus on the UK and Ireland.
Topics will include:
- The future hydrogen demand landscape by application and the role of green hydrogen in the transition
- Case study of the H100 Fife project led by SGN
- Key aspects for consideration by renewables asset owners and investors, including techno-economic factors regarding the production and transportation of green hydrogen and the legal and regulatory barriers, that need to be addressed in order to kick start a green hydrogen industry in the UK and Ireland.
