The Climate Change Committee has set out the UK’s path to net-zero and it’s clear we aren’t going to get there without more than doubling the amount of onshore wind capacity we have now.
As industry takes on the task of trying to achieve the levels of deployment we need, planning, grid constraints and charging continue to be major obstacles as we work to meet our climate ambitions.
With the Energy White Paper highlighting the importance of including net-zero in Ofgem’s remit, CfD Auction Round 4 on the near horizon and first sight on NPF4 promised in the autumn, the pieces are in motion. But will these create the seismic shift we need, or will they just be weak tremors which leave the policy landscape mostly unchanged?
