Aberdeen Science Centre has once again been named as one of Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best, securing the coveted Travellers’ Choice Award for the fourth year in a row.
The prestigious award, which is bestowed to those who consistently earn strong reviews from travellers, cements the centre’s position within the top 10% ranking on the travel site.
According to Bryan Snelling, chief executive officer at Aberdeen Science Centre, the award win comes at an exciting time for the science visitor attraction, as it welcomes the start of the school summer holidays.
He said: “We are thrilled to have received the Travellers’ Choice Award for the fourth year running, having now won it every year since we reopened in 2020. The Travellers’ Choice Awards are based on feedback submitted to the travel site, so it is an honour to once again be presented this accolade not just from Tripadvisor, but from our wonderful visitors themselves.
“The reception of this award is also very timely, as we look forward to one of the most exciting times of the year with the start of the school summer break upon us. We have a variety of fun activities on offer this summer through our current Neighbourhood Nature theme, which allows our visitors to explore the wild worlds that can be seen from their very own doorsteps as they discover more about local plants and wildlife.”
Visitors to Aberdeen Science Centre during the summer holidays will be able to take part in the Brilliant Bees Show and Tree-Mendous Workshop, alongside interacting with the Urban Animal Behaviour Activity Station, creating a great introduction to Aberdeen’s local flora and fauna.
The Brilliant Bees Show includes a hands-on induction into the world of bees, while the Tree-Mendous Workship is designed to take participants through the process of identifying different tree species, working out a tree’s age by counting rings, and exploring the many uses for trees.
The Urban Animal Behaviour Activity Station will also feature a range of interactive activities that will encourage visitors to analyse the changes seen in animal behaviours when living in man-made environments compared to natural settings.
Younger visitors to Aberdeen Science Centre can enjoy interactive story sessions, centred around bees and the life cycle of trees, alongside a range of fun games and crafts.
In addition to the animal and plant-themed activities, the award-winning visitor attraction will have a variety of birthday party packages available to book throughout the summer holidays, both on weekdays and weekends. Hosted in The Lab, which is sponsored by Apache North Sea, these parties promise a fun celebration for all.
When birthday parties aren’t taking place, the Lab will host extra activities for visitors, including demonstrating how they can make their own paper and using microscopes to explore nature.
Bryan continued: “We will have something for all ages this summer as we aim to create a fun and engaging experience that appeals to every member of the family. Our team prides itself on creating a meaningful day out for each of our individual visitors, the positive results of which are reflected in our excellent Tripadvisor feedback.”
As the world’s largest travel guidance platform, Tripadvisor has unparalleled authority with travellers and diners. This award is based on genuine feedback from anyone in the community who has visited and left an authentic, first-hand review on Tripadvisor over a 12-month period, making it a valuable and trustworthy designation of great places to visit.
“Congratulations to Aberdeen Science Centre on its recognition in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards for 2024,” said John Boris, chief growth officer at Tripadvisor. “Travellers’ Choice honours businesses that consistently demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence.
“This means ASC has made such a memorable impact on your visitors that many of them took the time to go online and leave a great review about their experience. People rely on Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice seal to help them navigate the myriad of things to see, eat and do across the globe. We hope this recognition continues to drive business to the centre in 2024 and beyond.”
Based on Constitution Street near Aberdeen beach, ASC is home to almost 65 interactive exhibits, allowing people of all ages to discover topics including Space, Energy, Life Sciences, Engineering, and much more.
Open seven days a week, the VisitScotland 5-star rated visitor attraction also offers exclusive venue hire as well as room hire for corporate, social and private events, alongside corporate sponsorship opportunities.
Through invaluable sponsorships, Aberdeen Science Centre will continue developing impactful science engagements to the North-east of Scotland and help to safeguard the legacy of Scotland’s oldest science centre.
