Member News: Aberdeen Science Centre launches Corporate Family Fun Day package

Exclusive half-day hire of Aberdeen Science Centre now available

Aberdeen Science Centre has launched a new corporate event hire package, offering a dynamic venue for organisations looking to host employee and family fun days unlike any other.

This new Family Fun Day Package, which provides exclusive half-day hire of both the centre’s indoor and outdoor areas, combines this unique event space with captivating science activities and demonstrations, designed to create an unforgettable day out.

Available to book from Monday, January 27, the new deal grants access to the five-star rated STEM visitor attraction’s interactive science exhibits, alongside use of its garden and BBQ facilities for 80-300 delegates.

Throughout each family fun day hosted at the centre, Aberdeen Science Centre’s team of STEM communicators will be on the floor delivering engaging and hands-on science demonstrations, including putting attendees inside bubbles and testing out hoverboards, that can fit seamlessly into an organisation’s event plans.

A BBQ menu and soft drinks are also included as part of the package, set up in the centre’s sensory garden space. Sourced from local suppliers, the BBQ will be prepared and cooked by Grub Fresh Food, while the deal can also be upgraded to include alcoholic beverages when the centre is not open to the public.

After enjoying a BBQ, guests can head back into the centre for a day of fun with its diverse and interactive exhibits and ‘Science on the Spot’ activities.

Costs for the Family Fun Day Package, which include flexible timeslots for morning, afternoon or evening events, will start from £3,450 +VAT for 80 attendees. Additional guests can be added to the package for a supplementary fee, priced at £30 +VAT per adult and £20 +VAT per child.

Half-day hire packages for Aberdeen Science Centre for fewer than 80 attendees are also available, however this will not include exclusive use of the venue.

Erin Flett, head of business development at Aberdeen Science Centre, encouraged organisations interested in hiring the centre for their next family fun day to get in touch.

She said: “We are excited to launch our new Family Fun Day Package at Aberdeen Science Centre. The centre makes for an engaging event space that is very different to other venues in the city, perfect for organisations planning family-focused staff events.

“With full, exclusive access to the centre and our garden space for 80 people as standard, the new package offers something very special – the chance to experience science in a fun way while enjoying a bespoke event tailored to your organisation’s needs. The half-day hire also includes a BBQ from Grub Fresh Food, making it an excellent option for those looking to combine great food, interactive experiences, and a memorable atmosphere.”

Visitors to Aberdeen Science Centre for the Family Fun Day Package will also have access to its newest exhibit, The Wall, which is the first of its kind in Scotland. The Wall’s users can take part in competitive games and immersive challenges as they learn more about space, nature, energy, maths, and many other topics.

Erin continued: “By choosing Aberdeen Science Centre as your event venue, you are supporting the local economy and helping us to achieve our mission to inspire a lifelong interest in science. As a STEM charity, every event we host allows us to continue delivering activities that spark a passion for science in young people who could become the scientists, engineers and innovators of the future.”

AREG is the original energy transition organisation, working on behalf of members to empower the energy supply chain and champion its expertise. Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to find out more about membership.

AREG has played an important role in the growth of Scotland’s renewable energy sector, engaging the supply chain and developing the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. However, we are only at the very beginning of the transition that AREG was established to both lead and support so there are still opportunities for companies to get into the constantly evolving renewables supply chain. We look forward to continuing our work together as renewables builds on its place as Scotland’s main source of power, and as we seek to deliver real change in the crucial areas of heat and transport.

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce has worked closely with AREG since its formation. The recent progress in the developments of offshore wind projects by Equinor and Vattenfall are as a result of the work of the group over many years. The north-east is known as the oil and gas capital of Europe. At the Chamber, we believe the region must evolve its position to being recognised as the energy capital. Whilst hydrocarbons will continue to be essential in driving our economy for years to come, the generation of renewable resources will play an increasingly important role in providing cost-effective power, innovative development and economic growth.

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce

The enthusiasm and dedication of the early group that would become AREG was fundamental in us choosing to launch All-Energy in Aberdeen. The first tiny show was held in 2001, and AREG’s Chairman at the time, Jeremy Cresswell, played such an active role that I often describe him in terms such as All-Energy’s ‘midwife’. All-Energy is now the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference in terms of number of attendees, space booked, and number of exhibiting companies. As AREG became firmly established, their presence and support for the event grew spectacularly over the years. We thank them most sincerely for their invaluable input.

All-Energy

Vattenfall has forged a strong working relationship with AREG through the development of the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre. AREG has worked tirelessly on behalf of the North East and it can take enormous credit for the growth of sustainable energy in the region and the path it has cleared for the region to capture further investment.

Vattenfall

Aberdeen City and Shire is emerging as a key location for renewables by successfully transferring its world-class oil and gas expertise into the sector and AREG has done much to advance this through a broad range of initiatives. It has acted as a catalyst in driving further investment in the local economy by engaging with companies, Government, public bodies and existing projects and we have been pleased to support their efforts. Scottish Enterprise will continue to engage with AREG as we increase Scotland’s use of renewable energy.
