Ørsted has contracted Fugro to perform marine geotechnical site investigations for the Hornsea Three and Hornsea Four wind farm developments offshore the English east coast.
Both will form part of the wider Hornsea project, which includes the operating Hornsea One and Two wind farms.
For the site investigations, due to take place between May and August this year, Fugro will mobilize multiple vessels. The work includes assessing seabed conditions described as challenging, and delivering large volumes of geo-data.
Detailed site investigations will include downhole cone penetration testing, seismic cone penetration testing, downhole sampling and rock coring, and borehole geophysical logging.
The findings should support reliable foundation designs and help de-risk the project’s future developmental phase.
Fugro has been involved in the Hornsea project sites development since 2011, conducting various geophysical, geotechnical and environmental services.
