Ahead of the upcoming Holyrood elections, AREG is pleased to present this husting examining Scotland’s energy future and its supply chain. With major developments unfolding both domestically and internationally, Scotland stands at a pivotal moment. Decisions made now will shape our long‑term economic resilience, global competitiveness, and ability to deliver affordable, secure energy for households and businesses.

This session will bring together parliamentary candidates to explore the decisions that will define Scotland’s role in the global energy transition. Acting decisively in the years ahead will protect and grow thousands of high‑value jobs across the North East, safeguard critical skills, and position Scotland as a leader in floating offshore wind and next‑generation clean energy technologies.

The North East is ready to deliver. With world‑class infrastructure, deep technical expertise, and an international reputation for innovation, the region is uniquely placed to anchor Scotland’s future energy economy. Realising this opportunity requires bold, ambitious political leadership.

The recent progress in the developments of offshore wind projects by Equinor and Vattenfall are as a result of the work of the group over many years. The enthusiasm and dedication of the early group that would become AREG was fundamental in us choosing to launch All-Energy in Aberdeen. The first tiny show was held in 2001, and AREG’s Chairman at the time, Jeremy Cresswell, played such an active role that I often describe him in terms such as All-Energy’s ‘midwife’. All-Energy is now the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference in terms of number of attendees, space booked, and number of exhibiting companies.
