Aberdein Considine’s acclaimed debt recovery and banking litigation team is shortlisted for the Best Company to Work For (Service Provider) accolade at the UK-wide Credit Awards next month.
The team, which acts for major UK institutions and banks and operates from Aberdein Considine offices across the UK, will contest the award at a prestigious ceremony being held during Credit Week at Celtic Manor, Wales.
In addition, three of the firm’s up-and-coming legal talents – Glasgow-based Senior Solicitors Katie Macdonald and Chloe Imrie and Newcastle-based Solicitor Sarah Clough – will go head-to-head in the Rising Star (Service Provider) category.
Aberdein Considine’s debt recovery department is Legal 500 top‑ranked, Tier 1, and continues to go from strength to strength. In 2025, the department achieved a record turnover of over £9 million, with profits increasing by approximately 40%, while handling more than 10,000 new instructions for the second consecutive year.
Meanwhile, Practice Head Myra Scott was recognised again as a L500 Leading Partner and in two major appointments for 2025 the firm welcomed experienced commercial and litigation lawyer Jamie Apted as Partner and industry-renowned contractual debt recovery specialist Shilpi Jairath as Operations Director for Lender Services.
The firm was successfully reappointed to the UK’s largest mortgage lender’s UK Recoveries Panel and was instructed on total outstanding mortgage balances in the UK of more than £1 billion in 2025.
Across the business, Aberdein Considine is dedicated to ensuring colleagues feel valued, motivated and recognised for their contribution and commitment to excellence.
Fifteen colleagues across the department have been elevated in promotions rounds since April 2025 and the firm continually invests in staff training and new technology to streamline processes.
In 2025, around 70 colleagues moved into modern, fully refurbished office accommodation in the heart of Newcastle. The attractive 5080sqft Grade A open plan office on the city’s Forth Banks boasts views of the River Tyne from its roof terrace and incorporates a large boardroom overlooking the terrace, separate meeting rooms and a large dining kitchen.
The office also hosts Aberdein Considine colleagues working in Commercial Real Estate for England and Wales, alongside Employment and Corporate and Business Advisory lawyers.
