Member News: Orion Group Awarded Manpower Services Contract for Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture Project
Orion Group has been selected by United Infrastructure to provide specialist recruitment support for the Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture Project – a landmark initiative that will play a central role in the UK’s transition towards cleaner, more sustainable energy.
The project forms part of the UK’s wider industrial decarbonisation strategy and will repurpose existing infrastructure within Liverpool Bay, to safely capture and store CO₂ that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. Once operational, the development will make a major contribution to reducing carbon emissions from heavy industry, while sustaining economic activity and local employment across the Northwest region.
Under the new agreement, Orion Group will deliver recruitment and manpower services for skilled trades and technical personnel, supporting the construction and supervision phases of the project. The initial focus will be on mobilising blue-collar construction roles, with additional recruitment activity expected as the project advances.
United Infrastructure has been appointed to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) scope for the project’s pipeline element. The new 34 km pipeline, combined with 24 km of repurposed existing line, will run from Ince, Cheshire, to Point of Ayr, North Wales, forming a critical link in the UK’s emerging Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) network.
With nearly four decades of experience supplying technical talent to major energy and infrastructure projects worldwide, Orion Group brings a proven track record of delivering compliant, high-quality manpower solutions. The company will work closely with United Infrastructure, local supply chain partners, and regional training providers, to ensure opportunities are accessible and aligned with local workforce capability.
